You may have already seen that Age UK Hull & East Yorkshire is working together with Quickline to help more people feel confident using the internet, online services and digital devices.

As part of this partnership, broadband engineers are being trained to better support older residents who may need a little extra help getting online. This work links closely with our Digital Connections Project, which provides friendly, one-to-one digital support for people in their own homes.

The project is designed to help individuals feel more confident using the devices they already have, whether that is a smartphone, tablet, laptop or another everyday piece of technology. For many people, being online can open up new opportunities to stay in touch, access support and manage daily tasks more easily.

During each home visit, we offer patient and practical guidance tailored to the person’s needs. This might include support with keeping in touch with family and friends, using useful online services, staying safe online, or simply becoming more comfortable with a device. Sessions are relaxed and paced around the individual, helping to build confidence, independence and reassurance.

To qualify for the service:

  • Aged 50 or over
  • Living in East Yorkshire
  • Housebound
  • Without access to additional digital support, such as help from family or friends

Referral forms and service information posters are available for anyone who would like to find out more or refer someone into the project.

Getting online does not have to feel overwhelming. With the right support, it can be a simple and positive step towards staying connected, independent and informed.
