Living with dementia can bring many different emotions. Alongside changes to memory and day-to-day life, some people may experience low mood, worry or difficult feelings. It is important to remember that you are not alone, and support is available.

A local research project, working with University College London, is inviting people living with dementia to find out more about a 12-week online Compassion Focused Therapy group.

Compassion Focused Therapy is a talking therapy designed to help people feel supported, understood and kinder towards themselves. The group will explore practical ways of responding to difficult thoughts and feelings with greater understanding and self-compassion.

The study aims to learn more about whether this approach can support mood and wellbeing for people living with dementia. Taking part is entirely voluntary, and anyone interested can speak with a member of staff or get in touch to find out more before deciding whether it is right for them.

To find out more, please contact Mel Melville at melissa.melville@nelft.nhs.uk or call 07305 269604.

If you know someone living with dementia who may be interested, please share this opportunity with them.
