Life with Dementia: New Course Coming to Driffield
Receiving a diagnosis of dementia can bring many questions, changes and uncertainties. A Good Life with Dementia is a supportive six-week course designed for people who have been diagnosed with dementia, offering time, space and practical information to help make sense of what is happening and what support is available.
The course has been developed by people with lived experience of dementia and is exclusively for people with a diagnosis. It is a chance to meet others, ask the questions that may have been difficult to raise elsewhere, and explore the things that matter most after diagnosis.
Together, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Find out more about dementia and what it may mean for them
- Explore ways to overcome barriers and manage changes
- Talk about changing relationships with family and those closest to them
- Ask questions and share experiences in a supportive setting
- Learn about local services, activities and support available across East Riding
The next Driffield course:
- Date: Monday 2 November 2026
- Frequency: Every Monday for six weeks
- Time: 11am to 2pm.
- Location: Alfred Bean Hospital, Bridlington Road, Driffield, YO25 5JR.
Before the course begins, everyone will have the opportunity to meet the team, say hello and ask any questions.
Help shape the course
People who have been diagnosed with dementia are also being invited to help shape the upcoming course. By sharing what they wish they had known at the time of diagnosis, the questions they were left with, or the messages they would want to give someone newly diagnosed, they can help make the course as relevant and helpful as possible.
There may also be opportunities to support delivery of the course, with support available throughout.
To enrol, find out more, or share your experience, contact June or Lee-Jay on 01482 205755. Please leave a short message if there is no answer, as the office is not staffed every day.
