Funding Available to Help Children Experiencing Disadvantage Enjoy a UK Holiday in 2026
A grants programme is now open to help ensure that children facing disadvantage don’t miss out on the joy of a holiday or day trip. This fund supports opportunities for children aged 13 or younger who experience financial hardship, systemic inequity, or disability to enjoy recreational breaks they may not otherwise access.
The focus is on providing fun, memorable, and enriching experiences—such as camping, outdoor adventure activities, or visits to the seaside. All trips must take place within the UK, Isle of Man, or Channel Islands.
Who Can Apply?
The following groups are eligible to apply:
- Youth groups
- UK-based non-profit organisations with an income below £2 million
- UK schools
Grants are one-off awards of £500 to £3,000 (increased by £250 for 2026) and can be used to support a day trip or a residential trip of up to one week for eligible children.
Trip Requirements
To ensure the funding reaches as many children as possible:
- Trips must be to low-cost destinations.
- High-cost activities such as expensive theme parks, musicals, or major sporting events will not be funded.
- In 2025, the average cost per child per day was £64. Higher costs may be considered for children who require additional support.
Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the trip.
Application Timeline The fund opens three times per year. For the upcoming round:
Trips taking place between: 12 January – 30 April 2026
Applications open: 1 December 2025
Applications close: 10 March 2026
