Celebrating the People Who Make a Difference in the VCSE Sector
As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible people working across our voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations.
Every day, staff and volunteers across the VCSE sector support people through some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
They offer a listening ear, provide practical help, create safe spaces, deliver essential services and help strengthen communities across Hull, East Riding and beyond.
Many VCSE organisations play a vital role in supporting mental health and wellbeing. Whether they are providing frontline crisis support, youth work, counselling, peer groups, befriending, advice, advocacy, food support, housing help, creative activities or community connection, their work can make a real difference to someone’s emotional wellbeing.
This work is meaningful, but it can also be challenging. Supporting others takes compassion, patience, resilience and care. It often includes unseen moments: checking in on someone, staying calm in a crisis, helping someone feel heard, or working behind the scenes to make sure services can continue.
That is why it is so important to recognise the people behind the support.
To everyone working and volunteering across the VCSE sector: thank you.
Thank you for your dedication, your kindness and your continued commitment to improving lives. Your work helps people feel supported, valued and less alone.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we celebrate not only the organisations making a difference, but the people within them — because your wellbeing matters too.
