Big Bike Revival Programme Accepting Applications for Summer 2026 Funding Round
Community organisations across England have an exciting opportunity to get more people cycling this summer, as the Cycling UK Big Bike Revival Programme reopens for applications.
This popular programme is all about helping adults rediscover cycling, build confidence and make cycling a realistic, everyday option.
About the Programme
The Big Bike Revival offers grants of up to £3,500 to voluntary and not-for-profit organisations to deliver local cycling initiatives using the proven “fix–learn–ride” model.
Projects funded through the programme aim to:
- Encourage adults who do not currently cycle to get started
- Support people to cycle more regularly
- Increase short, everyday cycling journeys
- Improve confidence and perceptions of cycle safety
This is a fantastic opportunity for VCSE organisations to deliver engaging, practical activities that promote both physical and mental wellbeing.
Who Is It For?
Projects should focus on adults who:
- Are new to cycling or returning after a break
- Cycle infrequently
- Face barriers to participation
There is a strong emphasis on reaching underrepresented groups, including:
- Women
- People on low incomes
- Ethnic minority communities
- People not currently in work
- Individuals not meeting recommended physical activity levels
By breaking down barriers and building confidence, this programme helps create more inclusive and accessible opportunities for people to get active.
What Can Funding Support?
Activities should take place between 3 April and 30 October 2026 and can include:
- Bike repair and maintenance sessions
- Learn-to-ride or confidence-building workshops
- Guided rides and local cycling events
The “fix–learn–ride” approach ensures participants not only gain skills but also have access to safe, usable bikes and supportive environments.
