VCSE

Non-fatal strangulation can have serious physical and psychological impacts, and is an important issue for anyone working with people who may be experiencing domestic abuse or sexual violence.

A series of free one-hour online briefings is available for VCSE organisations, staff and volunteers. Delivered via Microsoft Teams, the sessions aim to build awareness and confidence around recognising non-fatal strangulation and responding appropriately.

By the end of the session, participants will have a better understanding of:

  • The legislation and definitions relating to non-fatal strangulation and suffocation
  • The prevalence and risks associated with non-fatal strangulation
  • Possible signs and symptoms
  • The links between non-fatal strangulation and sexual violence
  • Support available to victims

Each briefing is delivered as a presentation, with an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
