VCSE

Community groups across Britain can now access hands‑on, long‑term support through the One Stop Community Partnership programme—an initiative designed to strengthen local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations operating within two miles of a One Stop store.

The programme offers a combination of financial support, local collaboration and practical assistance, ensuring groups have the resources and connections they need to make a lasting difference in their neighbourhoods.

What the Programme Offers

Each successful applicant receives:

  • An initial £1,000 grant

This seed funding helps groups kick‑start or expand activities that address local needs.

  • A tailored support package

The grant is only the beginning. Every participating organisation works closely with:

  • The One Stop Community Team, and
  • Their local store team

Together, they co‑design a package of ongoing support based on the group’s priorities and the community’s needs.

Who Can Apply?

A wide range of VCSE and community‑focused organisations are eligible, including:

  • Voluntary and community groups
  • Registered charities
  • Schools and health bodies
  • Parish and town councils
  • Social enterprises and CICs (operating for at least two years)
  • Community councils and local authorities
  • Housing organisations

Groups supporting vulnerable residents—such as women’s refuges, hospices, food banks and homelessness charities—are also welcomed.

Types of Projects Supported

The programme focuses on activities that directly benefit local residents, particularly those who may be vulnerable, isolated or at risk.

Supported themes include:

  • Tackling food poverty

This may involve expanding food bank services or running food‑related community activities.

Note: funding can be used for equipment like fridges, freezers and storage units, but not for purchasing food.

  • Supporting vulnerable or elderly residents

Projects that reduce isolation, improve wellbeing or offer practical help are strongly encouraged.

  • Assisting low‑income families

Including activities that ease household pressures or improve access to essential resources.

  • Youth sports and community activities

Helping local clubs and youth groups grow, thrive and provide safe spaces for young people.

  • Environment and sustainability initiatives

Including waste reduction, recycling or local clean‑up schemes.

Support Beyond Funding

One Stop’s local store teams offer valuable, on‑the‑ground support such as:

  • Volunteering time and practical assistance
  • Promoting the group's work locally
  • Helping with fundraising activities
  • Hosting donation points (food banks can discuss this directly with their local store manager)

This community‑driven approach ensures ongoing partnership, not just one‑off funding.
