Funding Opportunity: B&Q Foundation Grants for Home Starter Kits (2026)
If your VCSE organisation works with people moving into new homes — whether they’ve experienced homelessness, domestic abuse, financial hardship, disability, illness, or other challenges — there’s an important funding opportunity you might want to explore.
The B&Q Foundation is offering one-off grants to support UK registered charities that are providing home starter kits to help individuals and families settle into safe, welcoming, and comfortable living spaces. These grants can make a real difference to people transitioning into a new home but without the essentials they need to feel secure and supported
What the Grants Can Cover
Grants of up to £10,000 are available to charities, with a maximum of £500 per starter kit. Funding can be used to purchase a wide range of items that help people feel at home, including:
- Small electrical appliances (e.g., microwaves, TVs)
- White goods and furniture
- Bedding, curtains/blinds and lighting fixtures
- Kitchen utensils and storage
- Cleaning items, DIY tools, paint and flooring
- Smoke alarms and safety items
- Gift cards for home retailers
- Gardening tools, plants or outdoor furniture
- Laundry essentials (e.g., racks and baskets)
This flexible support means charities can tailor kits to the individual needs of the families and individuals they’re helping.
Application Windows
- There are four application rounds in 2026.
- The first deadline to apply for funding is: 20 February 2026
Applying early gives organisations the best chance of securing support for their projects this year.

Why This Matters
A home is more than just a building — it’s where people feel safe, secure and part of a community. For individuals and families facing hardship, having the basic items that make a house feel like a home can dramatically improve wellbeing, stability, and confidence.
If your organisation supports people transitioning into independent living, moving on from crisis services, or rebuilding their lives, this grant could help you provide essential support to make that transition smoother.
Please share this opportunity with local partners, community groups and charities who may be eligible and ready to make a difference in 2026.
