Time to Talk Day is on 5 February 2026.- FREE WEBINAR
Talking about mental health isn’t always easy – but it can make a huge difference. Time to Talk is all about creating space for open, honest conversations about mental health and wellbeing, helping to break down stigma and remind people that they are not alone.
Led locally by Hey Mind, Time to Talk encourages us all – individuals, communities, workplaces and organisations – to check in with one another and make talking about mental health part of everyday life.
What is Time to Talk?
Time to Talk is a national initiative supported by local partners, including Hey Mind, that encourages people to talk more openly about mental health. It’s not about having all the answers – it’s about listening, showing kindness, and being present.
You can get involved in lots of simple ways, such as:
- Checking in with a friend, colleague or neighbour
- Hosting a coffee morning or informal chat
- Sharing information and resources
- Encouraging conversations within your organisation or community group
Every conversation counts, no matter how small it feels.
It Starts With a Conversation – Time to Talk Day
This session will explore why conversations matter, how to start them, and how we can all play a part in reducing stigma around mental health. It’s suitable for individuals, VCSE organisations, professionals and community members.
Date: Time to Talk Day
Format: Online webinar

Why talking matters
Many people experience mental health challenges at some point in their lives, but fear of judgement or not knowing what to say can stop conversations from happening. Time to Talk helps to change that by reminding us that:
- You don’t need to be an expert to listen
- A simple conversation can reduce feelings of isolation
- Talking openly helps challenge stigma and misunderstanding
- Support often starts with being heard
Sometimes, just knowing that someone cares enough to ask can be incredibly powerful.
How VCSE organisations can get involved
VCSE organisations play a vital role in supporting wellbeing across our communities. Time to Talk is a great opportunity to:
- Create safe, welcoming spaces for conversations
- Promote positive mental health messages
- Support staff, volunteers and service users
- Show that mental health is everyone’s business
Hey Mind provides ideas, resources and inspiration to help organisations take part in a way that works for them.
Start the conversation
Time to Talk reminds us that we don’t need to fix things – we just need to listen. By starting conversations and normalising discussions about mental health, we can help build kinder, more connected communities.
