NHS Community Champions Update – October 2025
The NHS Community Champions Network, hosted by the Cancer Alliance, met on Friday 3rd October 2025 to share updates and strengthen collaboration across Hull and the East Riding.
Representatives from a wide range of VCSE organisations attended, including Active Humber, Fitmums & Friends, Neighbourhood Network, Humber Job Hub, and Smokefree Hull.
Spotlight on Smokefree Hull
The meeting featured a presentation from Smokefree Hull, which provides free and confidential support to help people aged 12 and over quit smoking. The service offers behavioural support, nicotine replacement products, and medication to support long-term success.
Free training and awareness sessions are also available for local organisations and businesses to raise awareness of the benefits of quitting and referral routes into the service.
NHS Winter Health Campaign
The NHS is sharing new resources to help communities stay well this winter. Campaign materials are available through the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, focusing on winter vaccinations, choosing the right care, and supporting families with young children.
Community Updates
The meeting also highlighted inspiring work from across the region:
- HEY Smile Foundation continues its Growing Green and Blue Health project and has launched new Data Chats sessions to help VCSE groups make the most of data for funding and impact.
- Neighbourhood Network’s Menopaus’ull project is gathering local feedback on menopause care through GP surgeries and running regular Walk & Talk and Café sessions.
- Fitmums & Friends are running a free Menopause Wellbeing programme and launching a festive choir this winter.
- Humber Job Hub CIC continues to provide free employment and wellbeing coaching, as well as volunteering pathways into work.
- Macmillan Cancer Support invited organisations to join its Communities & Participation network by completing a short registration form to help shape collaborative cancer support work across the region.
