DBS Offshore Wind Public Information Day – Have Your Say on Local Community Benefits

Residents, community groups and local organisations are invited to a public information day about Dogger Bank South (DBS) Offshore Wind on Wednesday 10 September, between 4pm and 7pm, at Beverley Memorial Hall.

The event is an opportunity to find out more about planned pre-construction preparatory works around the proposed DBS onshore converter stations, ask questions directly to the project team and hear about the proposed next steps for the DBS Community Fund.

Earlier this year, RWE asked local people what matters most to their communities and what a future community fund could support. Feedback from that consultation is now being reviewed to help shape a fund intended to bring lasting benefit to the area. RWE states that, if two converter stations are installed, the proposed fund could total up to £1.06 million.

Why does local involvement matter?

Major infrastructure projects can bring both opportunities and disruption. It is important that people living in the area, as well as local voluntary and community organisations, understand what is planned and have the chance to raise practical questions early.

Attending the information day can help residents and groups to:

• Understand what pre-construction work may mean locally
• Ask questions about timescales, activity and potential impacts
• Hear how earlier community-fund feedback is being taken forward
• Make sure local priorities, needs and ideas remain visible as plans develop
• Identify possible future opportunities around community investment, skills, employment and local supply chains

The DBS project team says it is developing the community fund in line with government guidance, with the intention of supporting local plans and aspirations. Its wider community offer also includes proposed activity around skills, education, careers and local business opportunities.
