Do it for East Yorkshire – Community Grants Now Open for Applications

Voluntary and community organisations across the East Riding are being encouraged to apply for the latest round of Do it for East Yorkshire (DIFEY) funding, with £200,000 available to support community-led projects that make a real difference to local people.

Delivered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the programme invests in projects that strengthen communities, improve wellbeing and create lasting social impact across the East Riding. Applications are now open and will remain open until Wednesday 30 September 2026, or until all funding has been allocated.

Funding Available
Eligible organisations can apply for:

• £1,500 to £5,000 for revenue projects.
• Up to £10,000 for small capital projects

What Can the Grant Support?
The Community Grant is designed to support new or additional community activity that aligns with local priorities and delivers meaningful benefits for residents.

Projects could include:

• Community wellbeing activities.
• Reducing loneliness and social isolation.
• Improving local facilities and community spaces.
• Increasing community participation.
• Supporting volunteers.
• Activities that strengthen local communities and improve quality of life.

Who Can Apply?
Applications are welcome from legally constituted organisations, including:

• Voluntary and community groups.
• Registered charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs).
• Community Interest Companies (CICs).
• Town and parish councils.
• Faith-based organisations.
• Other eligible not-for-profit organisations.

What Makes a Strong Application?
The council is looking to fund projects that:

• Respond to a clearly identified local need.
• Deliver measurable social impact.
• Benefit East Riding communities.
• Demonstrate good value for money.
• Can be delivered within the agreed project timescales.

Projects should be well planned, community-led and show how they will create positive outcomes for local residents

Application Deadline

Applications close: Wednesday 30 September 2026, or earlier if all available funding has been committed.

If you're thinking about applying, the How to Do it for East Yorkshire programme offers a range of free resources to help organisations develop their ideas, strengthen governance and prepare funding applications.

Applicants can also make use of the Social Value Engine, a free online tool provided by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to help organisations demonstrate the wider social value and community impact of their projects. While use of the tool is optional, it can strengthen funding applications and support end-of-project reporting.
