Charities working to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome or protect animals can now apply for grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 through the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust.

- Wildlife conservation and endangered species protection.
- Feeding, neutering and releasing feral cats and dogs.
- Veterinary treatment and neutering for animals owned by people on low incomes.
- Improvements to charity-owned premises or eligible leased properties.
Who can apply?
To be eligible, organisations must:
- Be a registered charity in England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
- Have been registered for at least 12 months.
- Have up-to-date independently examined accounts. Preference is given to smaller animal welfare charities

The next application deadline is 1 August 2026. The Trust considers applications three times each year, with funding decisions usually made within four months of the closing date.
