Carers Week 2026: What's On Across East Riding
Monday 8 June – Sunday 14 June 2026
This year's Carers Week theme is "Building Carer Friendly Communities", celebrating the vital contribution unpaid carers make every day and highlighting the support available across East Riding.
To mark the week, East Riding Council, East Riding Libraries, East Riding Leisure and community partners have organised a packed programme of free activities, wellbeing sessions, health checks, swimming, fitness classes, social groups and family-friendly events.
Whether you're looking to improve your wellbeing, meet other carers, try a new activity or simply enjoy a coffee and chat, there is something for everyone.
Free Swimming and Leisure Activities
Throughout Carers Week, carers can enjoy a range of free activities at East Riding Leisure centres, including:
- Free swimming sessions
- Gym sessions
- Walking Netball
- Pickleball taster sessions
- Badminton taster sessions
- Yoga and fitness classes
- Virtual Les Mills classes
- Walking Football
- Squash and Racketball sessions
- Soft Play sessions for families

- Goole
- Haltemprice
- Hornsea
- Pocklington
- South Cave
- South Holderness
- Withernsea
Many activities require advance booking, while swimming sessions are available on a drop-in basis at selected locations.
Free Health Checks and Wellbeing Support
Carers can also access free health and wellbeing support during the week, including:
- NHS Health Checks
- Boditrax body composition scans
- Blood pressure checks
- Health MOT appointments
- Healthy Lifestyle sessions
These sessions provide an opportunity to focus on your own wellbeing while receiving personalised advice and support.
Walk and Talk Sessions
Take some time out and connect with others during one of the many Walking for Health "Walk and Talk" sessions taking place across East Riding.

These relaxed walks offer a chance to enjoy some fresh air, gentle exercise and friendly conversation.
Libraries Join the Celebration
East Riding Libraries are hosting a variety of free activities throughout the week, including:
- Lego Clubs
- Games Groups
- Code Clubs
- Knit and Natter sessions
- Family History Groups
- Reminiscence sessions
- Cuppa and Chorus
- Chats and Crafts
- Bookworms
Events are taking place at libraries across Beverley, Bridlington, Driffield, Goole, Hornsea, Market Weighton, Pocklington, Stamford Bridge, South Cave, Withernsea and North Bridlington.
Community Activities
A number of community-based sessions are also taking place, including:
Welwick Village Hall Light activity games, refreshments and a chance to chat with others in the community.
Gilberdyke (Goole Area)- Light activity games, quizzes and social opportunities.
Ryehill- Walking for Health session with the Active Communities Team.
Hornsea Hub- Coffee and cake sessions alongside wellbeing activities and fitness tasters.
