Yorkshire and Humber Citizens’ Juries on Health and Harmful Products
A webinar is taking place to share learning from the Yorkshire and Humber Citizens’ Juries on Health and Harmful Products.
Earlier this year, local people from across Yorkshire and the Humber came together to discuss the health and social impacts of commercial activities relating to tobacco, alcohol and unhealthy food, and to consider how local and national governments should respond.
The webinar will explore what was learned through the Citizens’ Juries process, what the findings mean for public health, and how the outputs can be used to support advocacy and policy action.
Event details
- Date: Monday 15 June
- Time: 12.30pm to 2pm

What the webinar will cover
The session aims to help attendees:
- learn about Citizens’ Juries as a model of deliberative democracy
- understand the outputs and headline findings from the Juries
- feel empowered to use the findings to drive advocacy and policy action locally, regionally and nationally
Why this matters
Tobacco, alcohol and unhealthy food can have a significant impact on health and wellbeing, and they often contribute to wider health inequalities. Understanding how residents view these issues is an important part of shaping responses that are fair, informed and grounded in lived experience.
Citizens’ Juries provide a way for members of the public to consider evidence, discuss complex issues and make recommendations. This webinar is an opportunity to hear more about that process and how the findings could help inform future action.
