Tesco Launches Fruit & Veg Grants for Projects Supporting Children and Young People
Schools, charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK can apply for Tesco Fruit & Veg Grants to improve children’s access to healthy, nutritious food.
The programme supports local projects that help children and young people access fruit and vegetables, with the aim of supporting healthy diets, physical wellbeing and mental wellbeing.
What can be funded?
Funding can support activities that increase access to healthy food, particularly fruit and vegetables.
Examples of eligible projects include:
- Breakfast clubs offering fruit and vegetables
- After-school clubs providing healthy snacks
- Holiday clubs offering meals, snacks or support during school holidays
- Growing projects
- Cooking sessions
- Youth clubs and sports clubs with a healthy eating element
- Projects tackling holiday hunger
- Foodbanks supporting families with children
Who can apply?
The programme is open to organisations supporting children and young people, including:
- Schools
- Registered charities
- Voluntary and community groups
- Social enterprises
- Parish and town councils
- Local authorities
- Housing organisations
- Other not-for-profit organisations
Community Interest Companies may be eligible where they meet the programme’s requirements.
How much is available?
Every four months, three local projects are selected to go forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores. Customers vote using blue tokens, and every shortlisted project receives funding.
The grant amounts are:
- Up to £1,500 for the project with the most votes
- Up to £1,000 for the project in second place
- Up to £500 for the project in third place
Deadline
There is no fixed deadline. This is a rolling programme, and applications can be made at any time during the year.
Projects are shortlisted every four months before being placed into the Tesco customer vote.
