Funding Opportunity: Green Community Grants to Support Nature and Climate Action
Community groups across Britain can now access funding to support environmental action and nature recovery through the Green Community Grants scheme.
This programme, delivered by The Wildlife Trusts and funded by People's Postcode Lottery and the Postcode Green Trust, is designed to empower local organisations to take action on climate and nature in their communities.
The Green Community Grants scheme is a flexible and accessible fund designed to help communities take meaningful action for nature and the climate. If your organisation has an idea to improve your local environment, now is the time to bring it to life.
What Is the Fund About?
The Green Community Grants scheme supports projects that:
- Contribute to nature recovery and tackle the climate emergency
- Improve nature-rich spaces and increase access to them
Funding is flexible and can support a wide range of activities, including:
- Community gardening and green space improvements
- Recycling and sustainability initiatives
- Litter picking and beach cleans
- Sustainable transport projects
How Much Can You Apply For?
- Grants of up to £25,000
- Funding for one-year projects
- Applications can request up to 25% of your organisation’s annual income
Who Can Apply?
Eligible organisations must:
- Be not-for-profit (England, Scotland, or Wales)
- Have an income between £10,000 and £1 million
- Have been operating for at least 12 months
- Have a UK bank account with two unrelated signatories
Priority Will Be Given To:
- Smaller organisations (income under £250,000)
- Groups working in areas of high deprivation
- Organisations supporting marginalised communities (including disabled people, racially minoritised communities, and LGBTQ+ groups)
