Coming Soon - SPEAK Training – Building Confidence in Suicide Prevention
Supporting someone who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide can feel overwhelming, but having the right knowledge and confidence can make a real difference. The SPEAK Suicide Prevention Training offers a practical and supportive way to build those skills.
Delivered by PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, this CPD-certified session is designed to help individuals and organisations feel more confident in recognising and responding to signs of suicide.
What the Training Covers
The SPEAK session (3.5 hours) focuses on developing understanding and practical skills, including:
- Exploring attitudes, myths and stigma surrounding suicide
- Recognising signs that someone may be experiencing suicidal thoughts
- Learning how to have open, safe and sensitive conversations
- Supporting the development of a safety plan with someone in crisis
Why This Matters
Within the VCSE sector, many organisations are already supporting individuals facing complex challenges. Having the confidence to respond appropriately when someone may be at risk of suicide is essential.
This training helps to:
- Break down stigma and increase understanding
- Equip staff and volunteers with practical tools
- Create safer, more supportive environments for those in need
Who Is It For
SPEAK training is suitable for:
- VCSE organisations and community groups
- Frontline staff and volunteers
- Anyone wanting to improve their understanding of suicide prevention
- No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and support others.
A Collective Responsibility
Suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility. By increasing awareness, building confidence and encouraging open conversations, we can all play a part in keeping people safe.
