Community groups across the UK can now apply for new funding to support the mental health and wellbeing of teenagers, as Asda Foundation opens applications to its Healthy Teen Minds Fund, part of the Young Futures Fund programme.

The fund is designed to help disadvantaged and vulnerable young people aged 13 to 18, supporting their emotional wellbeing, resilience and access to positive life opportunities within their communities.

How much funding is available?

  • Grants between £500 and £1,000
  • Part of a wider £600,000 funding pot
  • Funding can support both one-off activities and ongoing community projects

What is the funding for?

The Healthy Teen Minds Fund will support projects that improve mental health and wellbeing for teenagers, particularly those facing disadvantage or barriers to participation.

Funding priorities include:

  • Promoting inclusivity and access for young people who face barriers
  • Tackling key social issues affecting teenagers, such as: Knife crime, Gangs, Bullying, Personal safety

What can the grant be used for?

Grants can be used flexibly to support a wide range of project costs, including:

  • Emotional and mental health support, such as counselling or therapy
  • Essential items, including hygiene products or clothing
  • Awareness-raising and education, for example workshops on issues affecting teenagers
  • Rehabilitation, recovery and shelter, including addiction support or youth homelessness reintegration
  • Activities and events that build connection, confidence and wellbeing
  • Specialist support or guest speakers
  • Peer support activities that bring young people together
  • Recreational resources, such as craft materials or board games
  • Sports kit or equipment (up to £500, must be essential playing kit)
  • Volunteer costs, including training (capped at £100 per person)

Who can apply?

The fund is open to not-for-profit groups and organisations that:

  • Have an annual income below £250,000
  • Are based and working in the UK
  • Deliver services that support teenagers’ mental health and wellbeing

Eligible groups include (but are not limited to):

  • Community and voluntary organisations
  • Youth clubs
  • PTAs
  • Amateur sports clubs
  • Uniformed groups

Applications are particularly encouraged from organisations that offer free-to-access services. Projects that charge fees which could prevent young people from taking part are unlikely to be supported.

  • Opens: 6 January 2026 at 10:00am
  • Closes: 20 January 2026 at 10:00am
