As the year draws to a close and Christmas approaches, we want to take a moment to reflect, say thank you, and recognise the incredible work taking place across the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.

This year has once again brought significant challenges. Communities have faced rising costs, increased demand for support, uncertainty, and ongoing pressures on services. Yet, throughout it all, VCSE organisations, volunteers and community leaders have continued to show compassion, creativity and resilience.

From warm spaces and food support, to mental health services, youth activities, advocacy, befriending and crisis response — the VCSE sector has been there when it mattered most.

Holding Space for Everyone This Christmas

While Christmas can be a time of celebration and connection, we also recognise that it can be difficult or isolating for many people. Loss, loneliness, financial pressures and caring responsibilities can make this time of year especially hard.

The VCSE sector plays a crucial role in ensuring that no one is forgotten — offering kindness, understanding and support without judgement. That care, often delivered quietly and consistently, is something to be proud of.

Looking Ahead to the New Year

As we move into the new year, we know challenges will continue — but so will the strength of our communities. Collaboration, partnership and shared learning will be more important than ever, and VCSE.uk remains committed to supporting the sector by:
