A friendly space to connect, share and shape something new together

Receiving a diagnosis of young onset dementia can bring a mix of emotions, questions and uncertainties — not only for the individual, but for family and friends too. What can make a real difference is having a place where people can connect with others who understand, share experiences, and build meaningful moments together.

That’s exactly what the East Riding Young Onset Dementia Group aims to offer. This new group has been created as a welcoming, relaxed space where people with young onset dementia can meet others in similar situations, enjoy positive experiences, and help shape a group that truly reflects their interests and needs.

A group shaped by its members

One of the special things about this group is that it isn’t a one-size-fits-all service. Members are encouraged to share ideas, suggest activities and influence how the group grows. Whether it's creative sessions, community outings, conversation groups or something completely different — the direction will be guided by those who attend. The aim is simple: to make the group supportive, friendly and approachable for everyone.

As the group develops, the plan is to start meeting out in the community too — giving members opportunities to enjoy local venues, explore interests and stay socially connected.
