New Frailty Service at Alfred Bean Hospital Thanks to Local Support
Thanks to a generous gift from the estate of Reginald Dobson, Driffield League of Friends has funded a year-long pilot of a new frailty service at Alfred Bean Hospital, run by City Health Care Partnership (CHCP).
The service is similar to the one at Hull’s Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre and aims to give extra support to people with high frailty needs. Every Friday, three patients referred by their GP receive a comprehensive geriatric assessment.
Each patient sees:
- A doctor
- A pharmacist to review medication
- A physiotherapist
- A clinical support worker
Appointments are flexible and can last an hour or more, ensuring everyone gets the time they need.
This pilot is a great example of how local generosity can make a real difference to community health services.
