Join the Trustees of The Beverley Minster Old Fund
Are you passionate about heritage, community, and good governance? The Beverley Minster Old Fund, established in 1579 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, is one of Beverley’s oldest charitable trusts. Recognised by the Charity Commission since 1873 and updated in 1983, the Fund exists to preserve and protect Beverley Minster’s historic building and physical assets for generations to come.
We’re seeking a new trustee to join our dedicated board of ten, which brings together a broad range of skills — from clergy and volunteers to professionals in law, finance, property, and construction. As a trustee you’ll help oversee the Minster’s maintenance, funding, and governance.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Substantial experience in the charity sector
- A strong understanding of charity governance and compliance
- A genuine passion for heritage, community, and conservation
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preservation and conservation of the Minster’s fabric and architecture
- Oversee inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and access planning
- Engage qualified surveyors, architects, and contractors
- Approve budgets and accounts; monitor project expenditure and risks
- Ensure appropriate insurance and risk management
- Attend four trustee meetings per year and contribute to collective decisions
Why Join Us?
This is a chance to protect an iconic building that has served the Beverley community for almost 1,000 years — ensuring it thrives for future generations.
Interested? We’d love to hear from you.
