What will be funded?

Projects should deliver measurable impact against one or more of these priorities:

  • Addressing digital challenges (access, affordability, confidence)
  • Building stronger communities through digital inclusion
  • Connecting generations with intergenerational activities
  • Developing digital skills & awareness for those who need it most

Who can apply?

  • Registered charities
  • Constituted community & voluntary organisations / clubs
  • Not-for-profit companies or CICs
  • Faith groups & community benefit societies
  • Charitable Incorporated Organisations

You’ll need a governing document, a board/committee (min. 3 unrelated), a bank account with two unrelated signatories, and appropriate safeguarding policies.

How to apply

  1. Register or sign in at beecan.org and complete your organisation profile.
  2. Submit the online application by 30 September 2025.
  3. If requesting over £5,000, you’ll be offered a conversation with HEY Smile Foundation to ensure impact is measurable and learning is captured.
Start date: Successful projects are expected to start within two months of payment.

Key points at a glance

Not normally funded

  • Projects outside the area of benefit
  • Statutory duties or promotion of religion/political causes
  • Consultation/professional bid writing fees unrelated to delivery
  • Items removed from the area of benefit without consent

The programme prioritises sustainable, measurable impact. One-off events or capital spend alone are unlikely to be supported.


How much can we apply for?

Grants supporting multiple projects up to a total value of £25,000 will be awarded in year one. Requests over £5,000 include a support conversation.


When will we hear back?

Applicants are notified within two weeks of the Grant Panel meeting for the round.
