Henry Smith Foundation Launches New Together We Begin Fund
The Henry Smith Foundation (formerly the Henry Smith Charity) has launched a new funding programme as part of its updated strategy, Elevate Your Impact (2025–2030). The Together We Begin fund falls under the Foundation’s Getting Started priority, focused on supporting families to give young children the best possible start in life.
Fund Objectives
The Together We Begin fund aims to:
- Strengthen parenting skills to improve children’s outcomes.
- Build confidence and reduce stress in the home.
- Connect families to their local community.
Who Can Apply?
Funding is available to formally registered not-for-profit organisations with a charitable purpose in the UK, with an annual income below £1 million, that:
- Support families with children aged 0–5 (including during pregnancy) facing financial hardship or social isolation.
- Operate in local authority areas where at least 24.9% of children live in poverty.
Grant Details
Grants of £40,000 to £50,000 per year are available for up to three years, with a maximum total of £150,000. Approximately 40 grants are expected to be awarded.
Accessibility support grants are also available:
- £250 at the Expression of Interest stage
- £500 at the Full Application stage (if invited)
These funds can cover costs such as BSL interpreters, translation services, scribes, assistive technology, or support workers.
