As our population ages, the way we experience later life is far from equal. Across the UK, there are stark differences in life expectancy, health outcomes, and the quality of housing older people live in.
This month's Health Equity Network webinar explores what healthy ageing looks like — and how we can ensure everyone has the chance to age well, no matter their postcode or background.
Hosted by the Centre for Ageing Better, the session will look at:
- What we mean by healthy ageing
- How inequality shapes the ageing experience across different communities
- Work happening in local places through the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities, guided by the World Health Organisation's framework
- Efforts to improve housing quality and reduce the impact of poor living conditions on older people's health
We'll also hear from Leeds, a city leading the way by combining its roles as an Age-friendly City and a Marmot City, tackling health inequalities through joined-up approaches.
This webinar is a great opportunity for anyone working in the VCSE sector, health, housing, or community development to better understand the challenges – and what can be done to create fairer, healthier later lives for all.
