Young people across the East Riding can once again enjoy cheaper travel on local buses during the school holidays, thanks to the return of a popular discount scheme.

From Saturday 19 July to Sunday 31 August 2025, passengers aged 16 to 19 can travel for just:

  • £1.50 for a single journey
  • £3.00 for a return journey

The scheme will also run again during the October half-term, Christmas holidays, and February 2026 half-term.

This initiative is delivered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in partnership with local bus operators, and is funded through the Government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said:
“Last year’s scheme proved really popular, so we’re bringing it back for 2025 to help young people travel affordably across the East Riding.

Buses are a key way for young people to stay connected – whether for work, leisure, or seeing friends – and we’re grateful to our local bus operators for supporting this offer.”

Need to Know:

  • The discounted fare is valid on East Yorkshire Buses and Stagecoach Hull services.
  • Journeys must either start, finish, or take place wholly within the East Riding to qualify.
  • If travelling beyond the East Riding, you must purchase a return ticket from the East Riding to get the discount on your return journey.
  • Proof of age may be required, so please have ID ready if asked.
  • This offer runs alongside the national Bus Fare Cap, which allows anyone to travel for £3 per single journey until March 2027.
