New Round of Large Grants for Urgent and Essential Church Repairs (UK)
The National Churches Trust is now accepting applications for the next round of its Large Grants Programme, designed to support urgent structural repairs and the installation of essential facilities in UK church buildings.
Grant Details
Grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 are available for:
- Urgent structural repairs where the total project cost exceeds £80,000.
- Installation of kitchens and toilets, with a total cost exceeding £30,000.
Match funding of at least 50% is required. Due to high demand and limited resources, most awards will be under £40,000, with the average grant around £15,000.
Eligibility
Applications are welcomed from listed and unlisted Christian places of worship of any denomination in the UK. To be eligible, the building must have been originally constructed as a church and be open for at least six public worship services annually.
Funding Priorities
- Architecturally and historically significant church buildings.
- Urgent structural repairs identified in a recent QIR or survey, especially if the building is at risk.
- Projects installing kitchens and toilets where there is a clear need.
- Buildings with a sound maintenance system in place to protect future investment.
- Churches with regular opening hours and strong community use.
- Plans demonstrating long-term sustainability and community engagement.
Application Process
The programme follows a two-stage application process, with three funding rounds held annually.
Deadline for Stage 1 applications: 4 November 2025 (midnight)
