ERYC Grant: Reducing Health Inequalities Through Physical Activity - deadline 31 August
Grants of up to £5k available for community physical activity groups to support new opportunities, or improvements to existing opportunities, that increase access to physical activity for people experiencing health inequalities in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Background
This funding programme is provided and administered by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Objectives of Fund
The funding is intended to reduce health inequalities and promote healthy communities among various local populations, including ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and those experiencing social exclusion.
The fund is available for existing community physical activity groups to enhance or create new opportunities for physical activity.
Value Notes
Applications for project activity funding can be submitted for either:
Up to £2,000 as a one-off grant to be received within the 2024/25 financial year.
Up to £5,000 grant per year, for up to two years (2024/25 and 2025/26).
Match Funding Restrictions
Not required.
Who Can Apply
Applications will be accepted from existing community physical activity groups in East Riding, that are appropriately constituted to deliver the intended project. Applicants must have suitable processes in place to deliver a quality and safe activity.
Applications need to demonstrate how the proposed project activity supports the creation of new opportunities or development of existing opportunities for the inclusion in community physical activity of populations experiencing health inequalities in East Riding. Such populations include:
The most deprived 20% of the population, including coastal communities (where there may be small areas of high deprivation hidden amongst relative affluence).
Specific population groups experiencing poorer-than-average health access, including:
- People from ethnic minority backgrounds.
- People with a learning disability.
- People with autism.
- People with multiple long-term health conditions.
- People with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010 (including age, disability, and being LGBTQ+).
- People experiencing social exclusion.
Groups may submit more than one different bid application if they wish to, but will only be awarded a maximum of one grant.

Restrictions
The following activities cannot be supported by the fund:
- Political campaigns.
- Religious campaigns.
- Activities that are a statutory duty of public service providers.

Eligible projects should relate to East Riding of Yorkshire Council's priorities, which are to support new opportunities, or improvements to existing opportunities, that increase access to physical activity for people experiencing health inequalities.

The deadline for applications for the up to £5,000 per year for up to two years grant is 31 August 2024 (11.59pm).
The deadline for applications for the up to £2,000 grant is 21 February 2025 (11.59pm) to ensure funding is received before 31 March 2025. Applications will close earlier if all the money has been awarded before this date.
