Funding Opportunity: Supporting Young People Facing Homelessness and Racial Inequity
A new funding opportunity has opened that will be of real interest to organisations working with young people, particularly those facing homelessness or experiencing inequality in access to housing.
Delivered by Comic Relief in partnership with Omaze, the “A Place to Belong: Every Step of the Way” programme is now accepting applications. This funding builds on previous work tackling youth homelessness, while also addressing deeper structural issues such as racial inequity within housing systems.
What funding is available?
There are two distinct pathways depending on the focus of your work:
Service Delivery Pathway
- Up to £200,000 over three to five years
- For organisations supporting young people aged 16 to 25
- Focused on those at immediate risk of, or experiencing, homelessness
- Available in selected regions including Yorkshire and The Humber
Systemic Change Pathway
- Up to £450,000 over three to seven years
- Open to organisations working across the UK
- Aimed at influencing policy and tackling structural racism in housing and homelessness
Both pathways offer flexible core funding, allowing organisations to strengthen their overall delivery rather than being restricted to a single project.
Who can apply?
This opportunity is open to UK-based not-for-profit organisations with an annual income between £200,000 and £10 million. Eligible organisations include:
Registered charities

Why this matters
Youth homelessness continues to be a pressing issue across the UK, and we know that structural inequalities can make access to safe and stable housing even more challenging for some communities. This programme recognises both the immediate need for support and the long-term change required to create a fairer system.
For organisations across our region, particularly those already working with young people or addressing inequality, this could be a significant opportunity to grow impact and secure longer-term sustainability.
