Green Skills Employability Course: Free Training for Unemployed Adults in Selby and Goole
A new Green Skills Employability Course is launching in Selby and Goole, offering unemployed adults the opportunity to gain practical experience, nationally recognised qualifications, and tailored employability support — all at no cost to participants.
This free, innovative programme is designed to support people into work while developing valuable green skills that contribute to healthier communities and local green spaces
About the course
The programme runs over 8 sessions across 8 weeks, with sessions held from 9.00am to 2.30pm. Participants will benefit from a mix of hands-on learning, accredited training, and employability support, all delivered in welcoming outdoor community settings
The course includes:
- Nationally recognised qualifications, including Level 1 Horticulture and a LANTRA Brushcutter Certificate
- Practical work experience maintaining and improving community green spaces
- Dedicated employability support sessions to build confidence and job-readiness
- Full PPE and refreshments provided, removing barriers to participation

Who is it for?
The course is open to unemployed adults from Selby and Goole who are interested in developing practical green skills, gaining qualifications, and improving their employment prospects. No previous experience is required — just a willingness to learn and take part.

This project is funded by the Croda Foundation and delivered by Groundwork, whose work focuses on creating positive environmental change and improving life chances through community-led projects
