VCSE

The National Deaf Children’s Society is offering a valuable funding opportunity for community groups, charities, and other not-for-profit organisations working with deaf children aged 0 to 5 and their families.

Through its Community Grants Programme, organisations can apply for grants between £1,000 and £10,000 to deliver projects that make a real difference in the lives of early years deaf children across the UK.

What the Funding Supports

Projects can be creative and varied — from local play schemes and family drop-in sessions to training initiatives that empower deaf young people to become role models for younger children. The focus is on supporting early years deaf children and strengthening families and communities around them.

Funded activities may include:

  • Play schemes or social groups that bring families together.
  • Peer-to-peer support networks for parents and carers.
  • Workshops to help families build confidence and develop skills to support their deaf child’s development.
  • Programmes connecting families with deaf mentors or role models.
  • Initiatives that help deaf children make friends, explore their deaf identity, and build a sense of belonging.
  • Activities that encourage language development through interaction and play.
  • Training for professionals to ensure they have the knowledge and aspirations to support deaf children effectively.
