New Bus Services Connecting Communities Across the East Riding
Communities across the East Riding are set to benefit from enhanced public transport services that aim to improve access to healthcare, shops, and local towns — especially for those who rely on buses for daily journeys.
Thanks to Government funding awarded to East Riding of Yorkshire Council via the Department for Transport’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, a brand new bus route and improved evening services launched on Monday 21 July 2025.
Introducing Service 141
The newly launched Service 141 connects Bridlington, Driffield, and Beverley with Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham. It runs alongside the existing Service 41, offering buses every 30 minutes during the daytime between Bridlington and Beverley.
This new route also stops at East Riding Community Hospital on Swinemoor Lane, and is conveniently located near Lidl and Morrisons in Beverley — helping residents access essential services and shopping.
Extended Evening Services
Evening journeys have been added to two existing bus services, creating more travel opportunities throughout the week:
- Service 41: Evening journeys now available Monday to Thursday, matching the existing Friday and Saturday schedule. This route connects Hull, Beverley, Driffield, and Bridlington.
- Service X47: Evening journeys added Monday to Thursday, covering Hull, Beverley, Pocklington, and York.
All routes are operated by East Yorkshire Buses.
Cllr Nick Coultish, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, said:
“We’re pleased we’ve been able to fund this new bus service and these evening additions to make it easier for passengers to get to Castle Hill Hospital and to the towns and villages on the routes at convenient times for them.
We’ve been able to introduce a number of new bus routes and enhancements over the past 18 months to boost the East Riding’s public transport network and support communities thanks to this Government funding.”
Why this matters to VCSE groups:
- Improved travel options reduce barriers to accessing healthcare, community groups, and support services.
- Evening buses enable more inclusive participation in community events, volunteering, and social activities.
- Rural and coastal areas gain better connectivity, supporting wellbeing and tackling isolation.
We encourage local organisations to share this update with residents and service users. These services could be a lifeline for those who don’t drive or live in more remote areas.
