Schools in the East Riding are showing their commitment to ending domestic violence and abuse by becoming White Ribbon accredited.

The White Ribbon Campaign is a UK charity that works to end violence against women and girls by challenging harmful gender norms, attitudes, and behaviours—particularly those linked to rigid masculinity.

57 Local Organisations on Board

A total of 57 organisations, including maintained schools, charities, and community groups, have now gained either White Ribbon supporter or accredited status in the East Riding. This growing network is helping raise awareness and build a culture of equality, fairness, and respect.

Spotlight on Schools

Two recently accredited schools, Beeford and North Frodingham Primary, were praised in a recent Ofsted inspection for fostering a strong sense of equality and fairness among pupils.

By embedding White Ribbon principles into the school environment, pupils and staff are equipped with the awareness and tools needed to challenge and prevent gender-based violence—skills they carry with them into secondary school and beyond.

Councillor Lyn Healing, cabinet member for communities and public protection, said:
“We all have a role to play in tackling violence against women and girls, and it’s great to see these organisations sign up to play their part. I encourage others to find out more and join the White Ribbon campaign.”
