Asda Foundation Launches New Fund to Support Local Foodbanks Opens 15th July
Opening 15 July 2025, the Asda Foundation is launching a new £400,000 Foodbank Fundamentals Fund to support food distribution services in response to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Local not-for-profit groups that help get essential food and hygiene products to those most in need can apply for grants of up to £750. This includes food banks, community pantries, social supermarkets, soup kitchens, and breakfast clubs.
Who Can Apply?
- Must be a not-for-profit organisation
- Annual income must be below £250,000
- Must have governing documents
- Must have a safeguarding policy
- Must have a bank account in the group’s name (that accepts cheques) and be able to provide proof
Note: If multiple branches or sub-groups exist in the same community, only one can receive funding.
What Can the Grant Be Used For?
- Essential food (including baby food and formula)
- Basic hygiene items (such as nappies, baby wipes, toiletries)
- White goods (e.g. fridges, freezers)
- Storage and essential fittings (containers, shelving)
- Fuel costs for delivering food to isolated community members

Applications will be accepted from 15 July 2025 at 10:00am until 29 July 2025 at 10:00am.
Please note: Due to high demand, the fund may close early, so groups are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
