Funding Open for Rural Village Halls in England – Apply for Capital Improvement Grants
The UK Government’s Platinum Jubilee Village Halls Fund is now open for its fourth round, offering significant capital funding to support the improvement and modernisation of village halls across rural England.
Key Information
- Grants available: £7,500 to £75,000
- Funding covers: Up to 20% of total capital project costs (including VAT)
- Minimum total project cost: £37,500
- Project deadline: All work must be completed by 31 March 2026
Eligible Projects
This fund supports capital improvements only. Eligible work includes:
- Extensions and internal reconfigurations
- Roof refurbishment or replacement
- Kitchen and toilet upgrades
- Energy efficiency improvements
- Installation of communication systems
Projects must also meet one or more of the following outcomes:
- Improved health, wellbeing or reduced rural loneliness
- Positive environmental impact or contribution to net zero goals
- Support for the rural economy
- Increased community cohesion
Eligibility
- Village halls must be charity-owned and community-managed
- Located in rural areas with a population of 10,000 or fewer
- Applicants must have freehold or a leasehold with at least 21 years remaining
Application Process
The application process includes two stages. Stage One applications are now open and will be reviewed in the order they are received. There is currently no set deadline, but funding may close early if oversubscribed.
