On September 10th, 2024, Humberside Police are holding their first ever Race Action Plan Conference which is taking place within the auditorium at our flagship Melton 2 Police Station.

The Police Race Action Plan (PRAP) was developed jointly by the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs Council, with the aim of improving policing for black people (Black African, Black British, Black Caribbean, Black Other and Mixed Black backgrounds)

Statistics show that nationally, black people are seven times more likely to be stopped and searched then white people and are five times more likely to be subjected to force.

The PRAP focusses on these issues under the following workstreams.

• Black people and communities are respected and treated in a fair and equitable way.

• Black people and communities are routinely involved in the governance of policing.

• Black people are not under protected and are properly supported as victims of crime and as vulnerable groups.

Our regions black community has grown in recent years, so it’s more important than ever that our communities are represented within all areas of our organisation, but more importantly that they feel represented and consulted when decisions on policing our community are made.
