East Riding Council is hosting a workshop delivered by Ygam through the Young People's Gambling Harm Prevention Programme. This workshop is aimed at professionals who work with young people.

This workshop is for those working with young people such as youth workers, teachers and others who work in educational settings.

DATE: Tuesday 20th February 2024

TIME: 4:00pm - 6:00pm

VENUE: Microsoft Teams

SUITABLE FOR: Teachers, youth workers and professionals who work directly with children and young people.

  • Gambling and gaming harms
  • Advertising and legislation
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • The blurred lines between gaming and gambling
  • How to spot the signs of harm
  • Where to get help and support

On completion you will have access to over 1000 resources which you can download and use in your practise. Our school resources are mapped to the relevant curriculums from KS2 to KS5/16+.

Health and Social Care

Suitable for: GPs, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, mental health and safeguarding practitioners, social prescribers, and anyone working with young people in a healthcare setting.

Topics covered:

  • How young people are increasingly exposed to gaming and gambling harm.
  • The influence of advertising, social media, in game purchases, loot boxes, skin betting and Esports
  • Gambling products, the risks and associated harms
  • The young brain, decision making, addiction and motivation.
  • Guilt, shame and self-stigma as a key barrier to seeking help
  • Example case study scenarios
  • Signs of harm, having a conversation with time limited contact, planning, potential screening questions, follow ups and signposting.

On completion you will have access to a comprehensive resource pack to use within your practice.
