Free educational resources for schools & youth-facing organisations
We’re delighted to share that free, high-quality educational resources are now available to all schools and organisations working with children and young people across the Humber region.
Thanks to funding from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, the Pol-Ed education programme has been purchased and is available at no cost to schools and youth-facing organisations.
What is Pol-Ed?
Created by West Yorkshire Police alongside subject-matter experts, Pol-Ed is an educational programme that helps young people understand:
- risks and consequences
- citizenship and responsibility
- the law and how it affects everyday life
The resources are designed to build knowledge, resilience and confidence, supporting young people to make positive, informed choices.
A word from the Police and Crime Commissioner
Jonathan Evison, Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside and Chair of the Humber Violence Prevention Partnership, said: “Pol-Ed gives teachers and youth workers the tools to help young people make positive, informed choices by deepening their understanding of the law and building resilience.
This work is funded through proceeds taken from criminal activity, turning harm into something that directly benefits our communities. It’s an investment that helps young people across the Humber region to thrive.”
What resources are available?
Pol-Ed offers a wide range of flexible resources, including:
- Youth inputs – for delivery by local authority colleagues and organisations working with children and young people
- School inputs – for teachers, covering Early Years through to Key Stage 5 (post-16)
- Police inputs – for delivery by dedicated Humberside Police Safer Schools Officers
How to access Pol-Ed
Schools: visit the Pol-Ed website and click the “For Schools” header
- Youth and community organisations: click “For Your Community”
- Community organisations will need to register and be approved by their local authority before accessing the resources. Pol-Ed provides a simple step-by-step guide to support this process.
- We’re working closely with OPCC colleagues to promote these resources as widely as possible, so please register your organisation and share with partners and networks who may benefit.
What practitioners are saying
“I have been teaching PSHE for over 20 years and these are the best set of resources that have ever come out – and they are free, up-to-date and relevant.”
