Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding

Full time

3rd August 2025

Description

Citizens Advice Hull and East Riding is an extensive service, with a turnover of £3.8m. We employ 120 staff and have the support of 100 dedicated volunteers.

We are a complex, geographically dispersed organisation working across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, with four offices (Hull, Bridlington, Goole and Beverley) and over 30 outreach services. We provide a combination of local legal advice services, including generalist provision, specialist advice and a wide range of targeted services.

As a Strategic Management Team (SMT) member, the post holder will collaborate with the Chief Executive and SMT members to deliver Citizens Advice Hull and East Riding's (CAHER) vision and aims and actively develop and shape the organisation's strategy.

As we look to the future, we are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Head of Business Development (maternity cover) to help us build a more sustainable and impactful organisation. This is a key role focused on income generation, partnership development, and driving innovation across our service delivery and operational models. We’re looking for someone with a commercial mindset, strong analytical and influencing skills, and a passion for improving outcomes for the communities we serve.

The post holder will lead a small, high-performing Business Development Team, comprising a Communications Officer and a Data & Insights Officer. Together, this team plays a vital role in helping the organisation grow, innovate, and influence. The close collaboration between these roles allows us to craft compelling funding bids, tell the story of our impact clearly and persuasively, and ensure our strategic decisions are underpinned by robust evidence. Data and communications are central to how we fund, shape, and promote our work. Having these functions embedded within the Business Development Team provides a unique advantage.

The Head of Business Development will have significant and proven senior management experience in providing strategic direction and generating revenue to deliver against ambitious plans and strategy. In addition, they will be able to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. You will be someone who will thrive in this changing but rewarding environment.
