A New GCSE-Equivalent Qualification Rooted in Nature
Level 2 Award in Nature Connection & Wellbeing (Adults)
We’re super proud to share some exciting news — Rewilding Youth has officially launched its Level 2 Award in Nature Connection & Wellbeing (Adults), a GCSE-equivalent qualification and the first of its kind in the UK.
This brand-new course offers adults the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification through practical, nature-based learning, while also supporting personal wellbeing, confidence and connection to the natural world
What is the Level 2 Award in Nature Connection & Wellbeing?
Regulated through Open Awards and equivalent to a GCSE, this Level 2 Award provides a structured pathway to explore how nature connection supports mental health, wellbeing and positive environmental behaviours.
Unlike traditional classroom-based learning, this course is portfolio-based (no exams!) and focuses on reflection, creativity and real-world experience — all grounded in evidence-based research around wellbeing, mindfulness and nature connection.
Who is the course for?
This course is designed for adults aged 18+ and is ideal if you:
- Work with children or young people outdoors
- Are a youth worker, teacher, teaching assistant, nursery worker or childminder
- Support wellbeing or community work
- Are interested in green careers or sustainability
- Or simply want to deepen your own relationship with nature
You don’t need to be working with young people to take part — parents, students and anyone curious about the power of nature connection are very welcome
What will you gain?
By completing the course, learners will gain:
- A nationally recognised GCSE-equivalent qualification
- Tools to support mental health, resilience and wellbeing
- A deeper personal connection to nature
- Confidence in environmental awareness and behaviour change
- Insight into green jobs and sustainability-focused careers
Research shows that nature connection can reduce anxiety, improve mood and increase motivation to care for the environment — and this qualification finally gives that learning the recognition it deserves.
