VCSE

The programme is suitable for anyone interested in becoming a Trustee or existing Trustees who'd like to develop their knowledge of their role further.

Quality Trustees are vital to the success of a charity. They play a very important role, almost always unpaid, in a sector that contributes significantly to the region.

Being aware of the duties and responsibilities of being a Trustee will help you carry out your role in a way that not only serves your charity well but also gives you confidence that you will be complying with key requirements of the law.

This programme is FREE, thanks to the generous sponsorship of accounting firm, Smailes Goldie Group

The programme is made up of 11 two-hour weekly sessions covering a range of topics to prepare people to become a Trustee. Topics include:

  • Types of Charity models
  • Governance -v-Management
  • Trustee and CEO Relationship
  • Insurance for the Third Sector
  • Managing the media
  • Interpersonal skills for trustees
  • The Role of the Trustee in Compliance with Data Protection Law and Governance
  • Introduction to Fundraising
  • Diversity of income streams
  • Strategy Setting and Charity Finance
  • Safeguarding and its importance
  • Legal responsibilities of Trustees

  • HR & Team Management

The focus is very much on equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to fully understand what to expect, and to be able to add value.
