East Riding Digital Champions

Published at 12:00 pm Wed Jan 27th, 2021

Not everyone is confident with technology or understand what difference could be made when online.

Staying in touch with friends could get more easier and online services less dauting if a little help was on hand... We need East Riding Digital Champions!

A call for East Riding Digital Champions...

You don't need to be tech savvy but you have already nailed the basics! Got some time to help others... then you're the person your community needs.

During 2021 we aim to recruit and build a network of East Riding Digital Champions. You will receive an induction, access to a variety eLearning resources as well as invitations to join events and share experiences with fellow Digital Champions.

You need to be

  • Enthusiastic about the benefits of being online and able to share your knowledge with others
  • Have a friendly approach and the confidence to encourage people to have a go at building online skills
  • Be willing to provide one to one help on using computers

You’ll be helping with

  • Basic internet searching
  • How to complete online forms
  • Help to set up emails
  • Using search engines to find helpful information and social activities
  • Finding ways to save money

Time commitment

We ask all Digital Champions to complete induction and keep their digital skills fresh using the Volunteer Your Way Portal.

Digital Champions can help others in a variety of ways. For example:

1) Offer ad-hoc support within own family, friend, work networks

2) Buddy up with a person that has a specific digital need

3) Be part of a group and facilitate local digital help sessions.

Support we can offer

You will be in control of your own time, with the opportunity to share ideas to develop the East Riding Digital Champion programme further. HEY Smile Foundation will provide the following to support your experience and connect you to the people in need of your time and knowledge:

  • Induction and eLearning resources to keep skills fresh
  • Arrange catch up meetings and share Digital Champions experiences
  • Connect you to community engagement activities, ensuring volunteers expenses are covered.
