Seeking five pilot areas across East Riding to explore shared solutions to reduce the digital divide within East Riding.
East Riding residents are missing out on social and digital support opportunities due to the cost, low confidence, lack of skills, or do not value online resources. These challenges have exacerbated and widened existing health inequalities for those that could benefit from being online.
Communities across East Riding are well positioned to understand these needs and have the passion to make a difference and support individuals with their digital needs. But we also recognise the need to facilitate the resources to enable communities that could help reduce the digital divide.
This programme will offer selected pilot areas a mixture of digital training, project guidance and funding of up to £5,000
We are seeking five test and learn East Riding pilot areas. The process will involve:
The shortlisting process will assess; commitment to the programme, understanding of local needs and potential learning opportunity.

HEY Smile Foundation and East Riding of Yorkshire Council aims to identify and support East Riding communities to develop their own local-led solution. Every community will be different and therefore this programme will build on the strengths and facilitate the support and resources to take action.
The programme aims to identify at least five pilot areas and provide the following resources:
Technical support… a conversation to explore how improved internet services and IT infrastructure could be implemented.
Managing safe spaces… a review of your building and how to provide a welcoming and safe environment and how it might be used as a local hub to deliver data access to local residents in their own home.
Digital Training… a short train the trainer course to improve volunteers and/or employees digital knowledge to support a person to get online.
Digital Hub Grant… funding to implement recommendations and become a Community Digital Champion within your area.
We are seeking a variety of communities with differing needs. We are welcoming expression of interests that may already have started or looking to start something new. Bringing together a mixture of challenges will help create shared learning.
Although each selected area will have different needs, they will all demonstrate a strong commitment to the programme and make best use of the Digital Training delivered by Adult Learning.
To understand potential learning and impact within this programme, the form will ask a few simple Yes/No questions regarding:
1) IT knowledge and interest
2) Current digital support
3) Online connection
4) Equipment to get online
There is only one text box asking how would your group make best use of the programme? Please offer only a few sentances or bullet points as a response. We will arrange a conversation if further information is required.
