Networking Event for VCSE Groups in Hornsea

Published at 4:23 pm Wed Mar 16th, 2022

On Sunday 13 March HEY Smile Foundation and East Riding of Yorkshire Council hosted an event for voluntary and community sector organisations in Hornsea, with guest presenters Linda Clark from the National Lottery and Nick Middleton from HEY Smile Foundation.

The event was well attended and guests enjoyed face to face chat over coffee and cake for a couple of hours.

Cllr Barbara Jefferson very kindly welcomed guests presenters Nick and Linda and event facilitators Angela from ERYC Local Growth Team, Kimmy from ERYC Health & Welleing Team and Michelle from HEY Smile Foundation.

The presentations (available to download below) and Q&A session that followed covered:

• new funding opportunities and guidance on the dos and don’ts of applying

• what difficulties groups were facing and the help they needed

• and how working together can unlock larger funding pots of cash

Feedback received from the event

'Really helpful information and very informative'

'Excellent turnout, great to see many groups interacting with funders and organisations'

'Information available was good, well presented and the advice simple to follow'

'Clear speakers and a good presentation'

'Left with more knowledge of other ways to access funding successfully'

'First time attending and really helpful'

'Good to hear and see faces present who represent the funding process'

'Limited time meant we were unable to chat properly to funders'

'Struggled to hear presenters at the back, maybe use a smaller space next time'

'Would have been good to go through someone's grant application in real time as opposed to just talking about the types of grants etc'.

HEY Smile Foundation will be touring the region in the coming months with full details published on the East Riding VCSE news homepage.
